Whether fairly or unfairly, the Pacific Northwest has earned a reputation as the mecca for American tech giants (Google and Microsoft have footprints here), marijuana-growing (there's something on this list for everyone), or the home to Birkenstock-wearing, protest-loving college students (and if you're in Berkeley, CA, you wouldn't be too far off).
But as with most places you'll visit on any good highway excursion—and in America, in general—there's always more than meets the eye.
Sure, you could just join the herd, ride up to the top of the Space Needle, take a tour of the Google Campus, and get your hands on some superlative, California-grown cannabis. But you're no ordinary traveler—you're an adventurous dude looking to take on some of this country's greatest and most challenging adventures.
On our road trip through this sprawling territory, you'll also find yourself winding through scenic coastal highways; exploring dense, hazy redwood forests; climbing actual volcanoes (bet you didn't know that was a thing); and roaring through sand dunes on an adrenaline-pumping ATV excursion. You'll also take much-needed rest stops through some of America's most forward-thinking and admittedly hipster cities (looking at you, Portland) for some of the freshest (and tastiest) seafood and brews the Pacific has to offer.
