It’s here. Finally.

The official teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has hit the Internet, giving everyone a first look at the Rian Johnson-directed sequel to 2015’s blockbuster The Force Awakens.

The trailer doesn’t give much away about the story, but the visuals are simply amazing.

Rey (Daisy Ridley) shows off some of her “Force” powers and wields a lightsaber while training under Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), while Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), everyone’s favorite droid BB-8, and Princess Leia (the late Carrie Fisher), all get close-up moments:

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is back and angrier than ever, and the battle scenes look beautiful in front of Johnson’s camera.

The red text in the title shot, and the ominous lines from Luke at the end (“I only know one truth—it’s time for the Jedi to end.”) give the trailer a very Empire Strikes Back vibe. That could mean a dark turn for some of the Star Wars heroes.

Either way, Johnson has proven himself to be one of the most capable directors of the new Hollywood generation with films like Looper, The Brothers Bloom, and Brick under his belt. He also helmed what many critics call the best episode of television ever, Breaking Bad's “Ozymandias,” so his visual flair and fantastic storytelling should be at their peak for this movie.

The film also got a brand new, badass poster to go along with it:

This trailer is just a tease, but wow: The Last Jedi looks like it’s really going to take the Star Wars series to new heights.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
